We were happy to participate in the " Garage Sale" that took place last Saturday at Makassed Abi Bakr Al Sedeeq.The school decided to have a garage sale in which used items that are still in good condition were sold. The aim was to raise money for the Dream Room at Makassed General Hospital for treating children's cancer. It was a very kind notion from Makassed Abi Bakr Al Sedeeq and our cycle two students were ready to share in this special event. They went to Abi Bakr accompanied by their teachers and spent an hour of fun buying games and beautiful things. They even had their faces painted by different shapes and colors. Thank you Mrs. Aida Ghandour and all the teachers of Makassed Abi Bakr Al Sedeeq for hosting this special event and for giving us the opportunity to take part in it.We are all part of the Makassed family and we should always join efforts to help in making a difference proving that together we achieve more.

أقامت إدارة الشؤون التربوية معرضا فنيا لتلامذة صفوف المرحلة الإبتدائية لنيل جائزة أمناء المقاصد للعام السادس وذلك تحت عنوان أناملي......أحلامي وقد فاز التلميذ: ليث صلاح الدين من الصف الرابع الأساسي والتلميذة :سوسن عياد من الصف الأول في مدرسة عثمان ذي النورين

A Day At School In Alabama

ENO TREE PLANTING DAY

ENO Tree Planting Day: Going Greener

For the second time, we've participated in the ENO Tree Planting Day Event. The aim was to plant trees at midday, in every corner of the world. The first trees were planted at noon in Oceania. Following the Sun, new trees were put to earth in Asia, Europe and Africa. Finally this chain of trees reached Americas, so the globe has turned on its axis. Tree planting is important for us at Makassed Khalil Shehab School. We have participated in the first event and were more than happy to take part in the second. Firstly, it reminds us of the nature and the importance of environmental protection. Secondly, it is a symbol for the international co-operation. We decided to go to Sanayeh Park on May 22nd. Grades One, Two, and Three took part in this event. Different activities were done by Grades One and Two students at school. Grade One students showed how crafty they are by making a muffin cup sunflower. Their creative talents were unveiled when they created a crafty poster. They also learned about the parts of a plant. Grade Two students did two activities. The first one was called "Eggheads". They saved egg shells, then cracked the shells open and used the bottom halves. Next, they drew faces on the shells with markers. After that, students planted seeds inside the egg shell. The last step was to watch the "hair" grow on the egg heads. The second activity of Grade Two students had to do with crafts. Each student made his own dove using plastic plates and spoons. Grade Two and three students were eager to participate in this event, so they brought their own plants, spades, and gloves. On May 22nd, accompanied by their English Language teachers, they went to Sanayeh Park. They eagerly ran to the empty places in the park to plant their plants. They helped each other digging and planting their seeds and plants in the soil. Then, they marched around the garden. They stopped to speak to some people about their work and even took pictures with them. Next, they tried to fly the doves as far as they could into the air. It was a sign of their innocence and freedom. They are choosing a new way, a new beginning to make the world a better place for them. Their choice was to go greener, respect Mother Earth, and save life on our beautiful planet. Keep a green tree in your heart and perhaps a singing bird will come!

World Of Our Own

"World of Our Own" was our first annual English Language celebration. Students tried their best to make this show a successful one by showing their talents and skills while using English. The audience had the chance to watch two plays and a puppet show. They also listened to a speech and had a good laugh interacting with the funny poems that students presented. They had an exclusive glimpse at two power point presentations, one about our school's involvement with the international project "ENO Climate Campaign Change" and one about school life at Khalil Shehab School focusing on Friendship as a special relation at our school. Our super clovers received certificates for their hard work in the English classes. We had our super spellers, super readers, super writers, super speakers, most improved students and our top students. It was a memorable day for the students and they succeeded in putting a smile, a big smile, on everybody's face!

Beach Clean Up Day

Beach Clean Up at Ramlet Al-Bayda

In the presence of a representative of the Lebanese President, Mr. Michel Sleiman, Cedars Oraganization launched a campaign to clean up the beaches of Lebanon from Al-Abda in the north till Ras Nakkoura in the south. Among the volunteers were representatives of the Ministry of Educatin, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of the Environment, Lebanese army, municipalities, enviromental, social, civil, and scouting organizations, diving clubs, and students from different universities and schools.

We volunteered to participate in this beach clean up campaign. We enjoyed cleaning up the beach with our parents to help keep our environment clean. We were all really happy to be involved to save our beautiful sea.

Everyone needs to do his part... WE CAN SAVE OUR ENVIRONMENT

ضمن المشروع الوطني للتوعية على حقوق الطفل وضمن الدورات التدريبية حولها . وبالتعاون مع منظمة اليونسيف في لبنان وورشة الموارد من أجل التعريف باتفاقية حقوق الطفل وتعريف التلاميذ بها وقد تم العمل مع المتعلمين على هذا النشاط تحت عنوان " حقوقي بالألوان " حسب المستويات العمرية وقد شارك في تنفيذ هذا النشاط كل من الآنسة جانسيت جركس والآنسة هدى شعبان في تدريب المتعلمين وتنسيق الرسومات السيدة رندة العنزاوي والآنسة هدى شعبان في التصوير السيدة راوية شاتيلا في تسجيل النشاط على قرص مدمج بطريقة فنية
