We were very keen on sending cards to the five different schools in Nottingham to express our warm wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We hope that this year be another busy year marked with success and fruitful activities through the Connecting Classrooms project by The British Council. Special thanks goes to Mrs. Mayssa Dawi, the project manager at the British Council, for giving us this chance to send the cards over to our friends in the U.K.
We've got new mail from our epals in Nobleboro, Maine, U. S. A. describing a typical day in their lives and telling us more about their interest, activities they enjoy, and many more. It's really a great way to get to know you from across the world. We'll write back soon. Thank You Mrs. Schuster and Mrs. Taylor for giving us the opportunity to compare our daily lives and learn how we are more alike.

Winter is a time for many fun activities with snow. One of the snow adventures is to make a snowman. The traditional way is to head outdoors and pack the snow, but our friends at Sunset Elementary School in Craig Colorado, USA, have built their own snowmen without any snow! Mrs. Cheryl Arnett, what a fun winter activity! This is the sweetest project I have seen in a long time...Those snowmen are adorable... and your video is very fun to watch!SUPER CUTE! Thank You

Lebanon cities are among the famous names in ancient history, such as Baalbak, Tripoli, Sidon, Tyre, and Jbeil. Ruins are still standing proud to show the greatness of the people who lived in Lebanon. We have learned about our beloved country through different class activities. We began by brainstorming different important cities and marked them on the map. It was so interesting to use the internet to locate Lebanon on the world map. Each one of us chose a city we would like to research and did a project about our favorite places to visit and presented them to class.

Our Makassed has always been known for keeping a guarding eye of the gifted students and their special endeavors. This time it was the turn of our brilliant student Mohammad Darwiche to be appreciated by praise and a laptop presented to him by Dr. Kamel Dallal, the director of educational affairs. This present was chosen by Miss Adla Chatila, the director of IT and finance departments. We thank them both for taking care of our "young clovers". We also congratulate Mohammad for winning the Copenhagen Climate Speech Contest...We wish you all the best, all the time!

What makes a gift the best you ever had? There are many gifts which are given to us, but some gifts are so different...they give us the feeling of being special! Second graders at East Elementary School in Colorado, USA, made a very cute video about the best gift they ever received. Mrs. Tiffany Eddins Trevenen, thank you ... it's a fun project we love to make and share.
After our first visit to Makassed Al- Marj School in Bekaa on National Tree Day, we feel privileged to be able to share a new project about our favorite places to visit in our country along with Bal Bharati Public School in India. The pleasure of planting together hand- in- hand in Bekaa opens the door to making new Makassediyeen friends. Second graders shared their drawings and wrote about what makes these places special. We'll also share our activity with you next week followed with discussion and a class survey about the most beautiful wonders and cities in Lebanon. Thank you Mr Adel Bahlawan, Mr Jamal Farhat and Mr Assad for sharing....a new beginning with the New Hijri Year...wishing you all the best!

How very lovely to receive Eid cards from our dear friends at Bromstone Primary School in England! The cards were made with love and care. We consider ourselves lucky to listen to your beautiful Ramadan song last week... and now see all your pretty cards. In return, we made and decorated Christmas cards for you and wrapped them in love wishing you all the best. Mrs Baker, thank you for making our Eid more special...the joy of Eid brings us closer to each other. God bless you with a wonderful joy- filled Christmas!

Special thank you to Sheikh Khalil El-Mayss, Mufti El- Bekaa, for your gracious hospitality. If those trees could talk, we are sure they would tell you how proud they are to be planted in your yard!
We have received 50 olive trees from the Armed Forces Command. We highly respect and appreciate the sacred gifts. Thank you
Big thank you to Mr Adel Bahlawan, Mr. Jamal Farhat, and to the wonderful school team of Al- Marj School for the warm welcome and hospitality. We very much enjoyed our planting day with you!
with our new friends at Al- Marj School
On National Tree Day, we visited Azhar El- Bekaa and Makassed Al- Marj School and planted the baby olive trees along with our new friends. They all promised us to take care of the trees...and with sunshine and good soil our trees will grow with us and will always tie us back to this beautiful land.

During the last math session students experienced a new learning method:Student Teams-Achievement Divisions (STAD) After I explained a math lesson about kinds of angles and how to draw and measure them, students worked in teams to make sure that everyone mastered the objectives of this lesson. Then all students made a quiz about the material given, and every student's score was compared to his previous test score(also about angles). Students, who exceeded their previous averages with their quiz scores, were rewarded by taking green cards that were summed according to team membership. Here's a bar graph that shows how students' scores improved after performing STAD. This site helps you know more about cooperative learning methods: http://www.cast.org/publications/ncac/ncac_peermii.html

A simple Thank You is not enough. You are such an inspiration to us all. Some times words fail to describe your dedication, enthusiasm, and hard work.I believe that now is the best time to say, "Look at what teachers can make."
