KSPS young clovers started an international collaborative activity with their friends in Ling Moore Academy in UK. The aim of this activity is to teach UK students about the Lebanese weather, and on the other hand our friends in UK we will teach us more about the weather in UK. To fulfill our aim, KSPS students did plenty of interesting activities in their classes. Grade 3 and 5 students drew the weather of the day on “Paint” and on cardboards. Grade 4 students used “Wordle” and described the Lebanese weather using different words. While Grade 6 students composed a song about the Lebanese weather “Let us talk about Weather” using Microsoft Songsmith program.
We sent our work to our friends in Ling Moore Academy to learn about the Lebanese weather, and we are excited to receive their work too!

Zero Waste Act Project
We at Makassed
Khalil Shehab School have started the Zero Waste Act project in order to help our students be
active citizens and make their community a better place. Zero
Waste ACT project is Contra International’s courageous initiative to minimizing
solid waste haphazard disposal and diverting the waste stream away from
landfills. By implementing Zero Waste ACT
at our school, we empower students to practice the character building learned
at school. Our students
will develop the skills of being responsible and actively managing their
resources.
Accordingly,
a presentation was held for our 6th graders about the 3 Rs reduce,
reuse and recycle in order to expand their environmental awareness. These
students will in their turn present the project’s process to all other buddies
at school.
Afterwards,
recycle bins for paper and plastic will be placed in all our school offices,
classrooms, and playgrounds. These recycle bins will be accessible to all
students for placing recyclable paper and plastic items in them. Taking part in
this project will serve as an initial step towards building a greener planet.

A Child’s Day
celebration was held at Khalil Shehab School on Thursday/ March 20/ 2014. Our
students took part in several activities. They painted on ceramics, jumped on a
trampoline, played on slides, enjoyed face painting, and played a game of snakes
and ladders. It was a very special day for them and they roamed the school with
big smiles on their faces. We were overjoyed to see them all so happy. On
behalf of KSPS team, we would like to thank Mrs. Karina Nakkash and Makassed

Candles to Mom
Grade 4 students are learning about physical changes. For this reason, they decided to make their own hand made candles. They melted, poured, and molded wax to design their own candles that they decided to give to their moms as a Mother's day gift. Finally, students concluded that melting, pouring, and molding wax are physical changes because the identity of wax didn’t change. During the upcoming week Grade 4 students are going to learn about chemical changes. Stay tuned to show you more interesting experiments!
