Zero Waste Act Project

We at Makassed Khalil Shehab School have started the Zero Waste Act project in order to help our students be active citizens and make their community a better place. Zero Waste ACT project is Contra International’s courageous initiative to minimizing solid waste haphazard disposal and diverting the waste stream away from landfills. By implementing Zero Waste ACT  at our school, we empower students to practice the character building learned at school. Our students will develop the skills of being responsible and actively managing their resources.

Accordingly, a presentation was held for our 6th graders about the 3 Rs reduce, reuse and recycle in order to expand their environmental awareness. These students will in their turn present the project’s process to all other buddies at school.

Afterwards, recycle bins for paper and plastic will be placed in all our school offices, classrooms, and playgrounds. These recycle bins will be accessible to all students for placing recyclable paper and plastic items in them. Taking part in this project will serve as an initial step towards building a greener planet.
