BBC WORLD’S BIGGEST SCHOOL ASSEMBLY

On Tuesday 8 May, “BBC World Class” hosted the World’s Biggest School Assembly.
For 24 hours, schools across the world took part in this truly global event that gave young people a voice in the build up to the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The whole event was streamed live on the BBC website and with BBC World Service broadcasts from the event during the day.
Running alongside the broadcast operation was a world record attempt concerning the number of students involved in the assembly.
Schools interacted with others all day via BBC Facebook Page.
Thus, schools tuned in throughout the day to hear what other schools talked about and shared schools news.
KSPS students participated in this assembly. They talked about their experience in promoting healthy habits through participating in different international activities.

Be Healthy and Safe Campaign

KSPS Students launched a campaign in the "World Health Day" entitled “Be Healthy and Safe” where students gave tips for a healthy and safe life to their parents, peers and visitors.

This campaign was the ending of an international project entitled "Promoting Healthy Food Habits" provided by the "American University of Beirut Nutrition Department" every Monday to 4th, 5th and 6th graders. This project is launched under the patronage of Nestle and LAFS (Lebanese Association for Food safety). Every week students gained new useful concepts and information about healthy habits. They learned how to classify one day food intake into food group and identify the nutritional characteristics of each food group. Students realized the importance of fruits, vegetables, and water between meals, and they differentiated between healthy and unhealthy snacks.

In the “World Health day” celebration, students explained international health habits and international food safety guidelines, and in a funny short play they presented the differences in food habits between Mediterranean and Western countries.After that, a healthy Breakfast was offered by Mrs. Carla HabibMourad and a lecture to parents about healthy kids. Simultaneously, students played healthy games, won prizes, and prepared healthy food sale.

"I would like to thank and salute ALL ALL Makassed KSPS teachers, staff, parents and students who worked together, hand in hand, to make our campaign "be healthy and safe" a great success.

1st and 3rd prize at AUB Science Fair!!!

We are very proud to announce that KSPS Young Scientists did it for the second time!
This year KSPS students participated in the annual AUB Science fair in 3 projects.
A KG project entitled “Healthy Bones” presented by Rein Halabi, Jana Abdallah, and Dany Graizi and guided by Mrs.Mirvat Edelbi.
We also participated in 2 elementary projects, Reflection of Laser Light presented by Jamal Yamout, grade 4, and guided by Mrs. Nada Bashashi.
The second elementary project was “Triple F” (Fire Forest Fighting) presented by Bilal Fakhoury, grade 5, and guided by Mrs. Rawaa Shehab.
We are elated to announce that Bilal won the 1st prize in Science Technology projects, while Jamal won the 3rd prize in Science Demonstration projects.

سيدتي النبيلة .

شارك تلامذة الصف السادس في النشاط القصصي التمثيلي من الانشطة المقاصدية السنوية بعرض تمثيلي رائع تحت عنوان"سيدتي النبيلة" وقد نال عملهم اعجاب الحضور ولجنة الحكم . شكرا لكل من ساهم في تقديم هذا العرض وخاصة لاهالي التلامذة المشاركين وللاستاذ بسام حيدر الذي بذل جهدا ملحوظا وايضا شكرا لكل من السيدتين :زينب مكي وندى بشاشي على المساعدة القيمة .

محمية طبيعية في منطقة قصقص

ضمن النّشاطات الاصفيّة الّتي تقوم بها مدرستنا عادة، كانت زيارة "حرج قصقص" حيث تعرف الّتلامذة على انواع متعددة من النباتات والأشجار. وكانت لهم وفقة مع المرشدة السيدة زهرة وحيد التي سردت لهم قصة الحرج عبر التاريخ ، وأسباب زراعة أشجار الصنوبر ثم قام الجميع بجولة ميدانيّة في أرجاء الحرج والافت في هذه الجولة التي قام بها التلاميذ أنهم كانوا مغممي الأعين وقد أمسكوابحبل طويل وساروا كقطار لاستكشاف المكان حولهم من خلال حاسة السمع واللمس . في نهاية الزيارة زرع الّتلامذة أنواعاً عدّة من الّباتات البرّيّة وعادوا الى المدرسة محملين بالمعلومات القّيمة التي كتبوها كفقرة تحت عنوان " محميّة من بلادي" .

Our Special Day

"Our World Has no Borders" was the theme of our modest celebration for the English Day that took place on Wednesday, April 4, 2012. KSPS team invited friends, families, and Makassed Association; Mr.Amine Al-Daouk, Mr.Shuheir Al-Mansour, Mr.Hussein Shawky, Mr.Mohammad Al-Machnouk, Mr. Jamal Houssami, Mrs. Ghina Al-Badawi, and our principal Mrs.Rana Sabbidine. Everyone was engaged and thrilled with KSPS students' performances. Tears of joy enclosed our celebration. A huge salute for our lovely teachers, administrators, and technicians who worked behind the scenes. Once again, KSPS team proved that our work can exceed all borders.
